Scotch on the Rocks are a fun and professional ceilidh band based in Sheffield and covering all of Yorkshire, The Midlands and beyond!
Our ensemble of talented, young musicians are highly experienced in playing for weddings and other events. We use fiddles, guitar, banjo, box or bodhran to get that classic ceilidh sound and our expert, experienced dance Caller can teach any crowd the steps from beginners to seasoned reelers!
Founders Ali & Philippe Barnes have organised and performed in famous, award winning London band Licence to Ceilidh for almost 20 years (see www.licencetoceilidh.com) and are very proud it! While Licence to Ceilidh will continue to run down south, Philippe and Ali have started a new chapter in the north and have joined forces with their fantastic musician friends in the folk music hub of Sheffield! And thus, Scotch on the Rocks is born!
Ali & Philippe have the experience of organising over 150 weddings and events a year with Licence to Ceilidh so know what will make your celebration run smoothly! They are also accomplished musicians in their own right with Philippe being well known from his recording work on film & TV as well as the West End show/tour Come From Away and Ali well known for performing at festivals are the country in The Dhol Foundation.
